What do I need to bring to register a new vehicle?
Usually your driver license or photo ID, the bill of sale, the title signed over to you, and proof of New York insurance. Call us first and we'll confirm the exact list for your situation — that's what turns two trips into one.
Can I really get my plates the same day?
For most standard registrations, yes — you leave with plates and a sticker. If anything about your paperwork means it can't be done in one visit, we'll tell you before you start.
Can I keep my plate number when I change cars?
Yes — that's a plate transfer. Your existing plates move to the new vehicle, so you keep the number and skip the cost of a new set.
Why should I surrender my plates before cancelling insurance?
Cancelling insurance while the plates are still active puts your registration at risk. Surrender the plates first and keep the receipt. We handle the surrender and hand you that receipt.
My plate or sticker is lost or damaged. How fast is a replacement?
Usually the same day. Bring what you have left and your ID, and we'll file for the replacement while you wait.

How long does a title take to arrive?
Titles are printed and mailed by the DMV rather than issued at our counter, so they take a few weeks. We prepare and file everything the same day you come in, and give you a realistic timeframe before you leave.
I'm buying a car privately. What do I need?
The seller has to sign the title over to you, and you will need the bill of sale and proof of insurance. Bring it all in and we check every field before it is submitted — a title rejected over one wrong box costs weeks.
I lost my title. Can you get me a new one?
Yes. We file the duplicate title application for you and follow it through, so you're not chasing it yourself.

Can you renew my license without me going to the DMV?
In most cases, yes — we handle the renewal here at the counter. Bring your current license and we'll tell you in a minute whether yours qualifies.
My license already expired. Is it too late?
Not necessarily. An expired license can usually still be renewed; how it's handled depends on how long it has been. Bring it in and we'll tell you exactly where you stand.
Do I need a vision test?
New York requires a current vision test on file to renew. If yours isn't on file, we'll tell you what's needed and where to get it done — it takes minutes.
